After being discharged from the army, Mulan returns to her hometown only to discover that her parents have been murdered and her autistic brother, Mu Hong, has disappeared. She reports the crime to Prefect Ji Shi Xun, who misleads her into believing that refugees are responsible.
Determined to uncover the truth herself, Mulan follows clues connected to counterfeit currency and discovers a secret coin-forging operation run by corrupt officials Wang Da Mao and Liu Huan.
